Travel to Serengeti - the safari of your dreams

A drive through the Serengeti might be one of the most valuable wildlife experiences you can have. It's a hotspot for wildlife freaks in East Africa. Drive through the immense park and get a flavour of that peaceful feeling, looking at hundreds of thousands of animals grazing in compact herds. Get your bit of excitement when a gang of elephants cross the road right before your nose, or see how a pack of lions bring down a zebra! A multi-day journey through this enormous game reserve is something you’ll never forget, that’s for sure!

Picture this: in the early morning you are woken up by a tweeting frenzy of birds around your tent or lodge. When you get out, the sun just started rising. You glance over the plains that adjoin the site and see dozens of antelopes grazing in the fresh sunlight. Only then it's when you realize you had a dream last night about hyenas and monkeys bothering you with their desperate search for food. Or was it really a dream?

We know, it almost sounds too good to be true. However, this actually is a scene you might be involved in during your stay on the savannah of the Serengeti. Make sure your safari is arranged properly and have your overnight stays arranged in tents or lodges that are located on the park border.

Watch the wildebeest migration when you travel to Serengeti

The most stunning view you can get in the Serengeti is the wildebeest migration. During the season they shift from the Tanzanian Serengeti towards the fresh grass of the Kenyan Masai Mara. To do so, they cross the River Mara. All kinds of predators make this crossing into a killing frenzy. Can you imagine 500.000 wildebeest sprinting through a river, while huge crocodiles, lions, cheetahs and leopards are waiting for their meal to present themselves on their plate?

This spectacle only occurs when the animals have exhausted the grazing on one side of the river. They start migrating northwards in January and arrive in the Masai Mara around July or August. They start their journey back to Tanzania in October. Make sure your planning allows you to be at the right place in the right time of the season. Believe us, the grass plains of the Serengeti are very beautiful by itself, but 2.5 million mammals strolling around add considerable excitement that you definitely don’t want to miss!

Exclusive safari in the Serengeti

If you have the money, and the opportunity comes by, get yourself up in the air. You can fly into the park by propeller plain from different places, but even more fun would be a trip over the vast plains by a hot-air balloon. Only from here you can see the magnitude of the grazing spectacle on the savannah below.

Another option that definitely enhances your safari experience can be found in booking a lodge that is located at a drinking place. When you return from a game drive in the evening you can take place in your hammock and enjoy some food and a nice refreshing drink while animals are gathering around the water pool to do the same. How nice doesn't that sound? And this even excludes the best part: waking up and looking outside, seeing loads of animals starting their day as well. It's an unforgettable sight to see a giraffe getting down to it's knees to dip it's nose into the water for a cool refreshment...
