Travel to Casablanca – The financial center of Morocco

Morocco’s largest city, Casablanca, inhabits 4 million people and is also the industrial and economic centre in Morocco. Travel to Casablanca with KILROY.
Most travelers that arrive in Casablanca head to Rabat or one of the other nearby cities the same day as they arrive. Even though this is the largest city in Morocco Casablanca is not famous for its sights.

Things to see in Casablanca

If you do decide to linger around Casablanca for a day or two there are still some interesting sights. A visit to The King Hassan II Mosque, the third largest mosque in the world, is highly recommended. The mosque is open to non-Muslims and is known for a roof that opens to the sky and beautifully decorated tiles.

West of the mosque you can visit The Corniche which is a neighbourhood next to the sea. This used to be a modern resort area but has lost some of its glory. You'll still find a few high end hotels and western fast food places here.

Shopping in Casablanca

We recommend going to Fez or Marrakech for shopping but you will find the traditional shops selling Moroccan souvenirs around the old medina.

Eating and drinking in Casablanca

There are plenty of places to eat traditional Tajine dishes in Casablanca. Be aware that most restaurants are closed until 7 PM and some open even later.

Travel to and from Casablanca

Casablanca can be reached by train from Meknes, Fes, Oujda, Marrakech and Tangier. A tip is to look for express trains that will save several hours on your journey. Casablanca is also well connected by long distance busses to the other large cities of Morocco. There are even a few bus routes to some of the large cities in Southern Europe.
