Aruba is one of the ABC islands in the Caribbean and one of four ‘countries’ that constitute the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is located just north of Venezuela and is only 30 km long and 9 km wide. Aruba is a popular destination among east coast Americans, thus there are many resorts and family friendly hotels on the island. Additionally, it is also a common stop on the Caribbean cruises. And we understand the appeal; Aruba is renowned for its white sand beaches and the warm, tropical climate.

Eagle Beach - most photographed trees

Aruba Two Trees At Beach

When in Aruba, it is a must to visit Eagle Beach. This pristine beach is one of the most breathtaking beaches in Aruba because of its soft white sand and clear Caribbean water. A few months a year the beach is covered in red and white markers indicating turtle nests. The turtles hatch around sunset and at night and it’s a spectacular experience. Eagle Beach is also where you’ll find the most photographed items in Aruba – the two Fofoti trees that are very unique and a popular backdrop for wedding photo sessions.

Oranjestad - a colorful city

Aruba Colorful Buildings

Aruba’s capital, Oranjestad (meaning Orange City), is a colorful mix of old and new buildings, local and souvenir shops and lots of restaurants and bars. There are many fascinating historic landmarks in the city and you should definitely pay a visit to Fort Zoutman which is Aruba’s oldest building from 1798 and built to protect the city against pirates.

Activities in Aruba

It is no surprise that most people travel to Aruba to relax on the beautiful beaches, but there are lots of adventures to be had in and under the sea. Obviously, snorkeling and scuba diving are popular activities, but you can also rent kayaks or go sailing either by yourself with your friends or on arranged tours. On land, you can go horseback riding, rock climbing, cycling or on fun and adventurous jeep safaris. Be prepared to book your activities via big resorts and tour operators who mainly cater their selection to American and Canadien cruise ship customers.

Aruba Natural Bridge

Rent a 4 wheel drive or an ATV and go to the natural pool Conchi on the northern part of the island. It is a small pool of water hidden by a natural rock formation, but make sure you have a spare tire as the roads can be quite bumpy.
