Highlights in Berlin

Why not start your stay in Berlin by exploring the city's many great sights? And what could be better and more natural than to start with the big picture? From the observation deck on top of 'Fernsehturm' (TV tower) on the famous Alexanderplatz, you get just that. From here you also get an excellent impression of the mixed architecture. And the effect is striking: Berlin is just as special and beautiful as it is full of contradictions.

Enjoy the life and feel of the elegant Pariser Platz and perhaps enjoy a lovely breakfast in the historic and beautiful Hotel Adlon Kempinski, where you might be lucky enough to get to sit on the same chairs as celebrities like Michael Jackson, Albert Einstein and Bill Clinton.

From Pariser Platz you might want to continue to Potsdamer Platz, the city's most popular urban renewal area. The place was once a sad and empty area, but has now developed into a very exciting and lively area with a good range of museums, theaters, hotels, restaurants and bars.

Another interesting piece of cultural history is the city's Jewish Museum, located in an avant-garde building designed by the famous Jewish designer Daniel Libeskind - a great experience both in appearance and substance and an absolute must when in Berlin. Also, visit the old border post Checkpoint Charlie - here you get a sense of the old divided Berlin before the fall of the wall in 1989. Of course, a tour of Berlin also includes the city's most famous and historic boulevard, Unter den Linden.

Check out Galeries Lafayette; Berlin's version of the exclusive Parisian shopping center. Or KaDeWe, Europe's second largest shopping center. Of course there are also plenty of exciting, chic and trendy shops of all kinds in the streets, and you can easily combine shopping with a cup of good coffee or perhaps a delicious lunch at one of the excellent cafes and restaurants.
