Go find your backpack, book your flights and dont forget to bring your faithful hiking boots and best camera - you'll need them both for this amazing trip that will leave you in awe of the world and mother nature!

Peru is home to the mysterious and marvelous Machu Picchu, the ancient Incan city placed high in the Andes mountains. For those looking for a challenge along with a truly breathtaking experience, the 5 day Lares Trek is just the right amount of adventure, culture and fun.

The Lares Trek is an off-the-beaten-track route, a lot less touristy than the famous Inca Trail, which means that you’ll have the trail more or less to yourself! The Lares trek also gives you much more interaction with the locals, while you walk on natual trails experiencing the scenic views and hidden treassures the Lares Trek has to offer.

On this trip, you’ll start your adventure in the historic Cusco, where you can arrive early to explore the city’s historical sites – there are plenty to keep you entertained! The next day you will depart Cusco by van to Lares town, where the 3 day hike to Machu Picchu, or the “Lost City of the Incas” as it’s also called, will commence!

During your three day hike you’ll pass by stunning views, set camp in the isolated village of Cuncani, reach the hike’s highest point of Huacawasi Pass (4,750m) while enjoying the scenic views of lagoons and the snow-capped Chicon Mountain and spend the day relaxing in Aguas Calientes, visiting the nearby hot springs or follow the trails around the town to see typical Andean flora and fauna, llamas and alpacas.

On the final day of your hike you’ll wake up early to walk up to Machu Picchu. Together with a local guide you’ll walk through the astonishing ruins, learn about its history and gain local insight into the different parts of the site. Once you’ve taken it all in, it’s time to head back taking the scenic train ride back to Ollantaytambo to meet the van for the ride back to Cusco.

Sounds like fun? We promise you it is. This three-day Lares trek will reward you with a stunning combination of the region’s ruins, mountainscapes and cloud forests, and leave you wanting even more!
