Why island hopping in the Galápagos should be on your bucket list

If the Galápagos islands aren't already on your bucket list, they will be after reading about this amazing island hopping tour- trust us! The Galápagos is considered one of the world's best destinations for wildlife-viewing, but that just one of the reasons why it should be at the top of your list. Then there's the snorkeling, the white sand beaches, the scenic hikes, the local people... and so much more!

The Galapagos islands are a small volcanic archipelago in the Pacific Ocean about 1000 kilometers from Ecuadors mainland, so the best way to explore the Galapagos islands is nothing better than island hopping and camping style. We suggest you join this tour, that starts in Quito, flies you straight to the islands and will have you 'hopping' all the way from Santa Cruz, to Floreana Island and Isabela Island, before heading back to Santa Cruz for more island fun!

Santa Cruz Island

The 9 day tour will start on the Island Santa Cruz, where you’ll spend a day and a half visiting the Charles Darwin Research Station for an introduction to some of the unique wildlife and history of the area. In addition you get to experience beautiful highlangs, watch giant sea turtles and go on a hike to the lava tunnels.

Floreana Island  

Floreana Island is a true nature lover's paradise. Here you’ll get to visit the local community and try their local dishes, you’ll have the opportunity to walk along the black-sand beach until Loberia, where you can enjoy some amazing beach snorkelling or a casual swim. In the afternoon you’ll head up to the seldom-visited highlands of Floreana, where you can observe birds and other amazing wildlife!

Isabela Island

On day 5 you’ll reach Isabela Island, where you’re in for a few amazing days of adventure and wildlife excursions! First, you’ll be hiking up the active Sierra Negra Volcano and take walk around the rim of the largest volcanic crater in the archipelago.

Then, you can opt in on an exciting wildlife boat excursion to 'Islote Tintoreras' where you’ll get to see breeding white-tip reef sharks, marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies, rays, and penguins along with a visit to the Giant Tortoise Breeding Centre. Make sure you have your camera skills on point before heading to Isabella island - because these are some truly amazing experiences you’ll want to remember!

Your island adventures will end back on Santa Cruz island where you can venture out on a walk to Tortuga Bay, opt for a kayak, surf lessons or swim in the turquoise water. This tour will have you amazed, relaxed and in awe of mother nature in no time! You will return to Quito on day 9.
